The art of high fashion is coming to Federal Way. Federal Way High School student Michael Delk Jr., along with other students, will hold their High Fashion Runway Event on April 24-25, 2009 at The Commons Mall.
The event is billed to feature the latest trends in spring fashion, and will feature popular brand names, designer names and several custom-designed outfits The event is a fundraiser for students involved in performing arts.
The idea came about after Delk was selected to participate in an International Performing Arts Conference in Los Angeles. Fashion is one of his passions, his mom said."He's always about how he looks."
Delk also took a Fashion Design class last summer. Last October, the organizing began. He's just now in the throes of finding out how much work this is. Delk secured sponsorship from (a local 501c3) nonprofit organization and will sell ads in the program ranging in cost from $25 to $895.
Last weekend began the model auditions. Delk found about a dozen models last week; he will choose more this weekend. Each will receive training from Delk's own runway coach for three-hour catwalk lessons, then be matched to appropriate retailers or designers for the 2-day event.
